Choosing the best jogging stroller for your family
What is a jogging stroller?
It is not recommended to run or jog with a stroller that is not specifically made for jogging. Thule jogging strollers are intentionally designed with 3 wheels to increase stability at higher speeds. A smaller wheel in front allows for easy steering and maneuverability. It’s locked in place to keep a steady line of motion and to keep the stroller from veering off when encountering uneven terrain. Our strollers are also built with air filled tires and suspension for a smooth, comfortable ride each and every time.
- What are the benefits of running with a jogging stroller?
o Running with a jogging stroller does add some resistance to a standard run; therefore, Thule jogging strollers are designed with performance in mind.
o Lightweight aluminium frame minimizes the total weight being pushed
o Aerodynamic design reduces wind interference
o Oversized, air-filled tires ensure a smooth glide over various terrain
o Twist hand break helps control downhill and forward speeds (included with Thule Urban Glide and Thule Glide and with an additional accessories for the Thule Chariot series)
o Although you can expect your average running speed to be slower while pushing a jogging stroller, our premium line up of joggers have proven their high-performance ability. Three of our models have made their way into the Guinness World Record books for fastest marathon or half marathon while pushing a stroller.
What age can a baby go in a jogging stroller?
Parents can jog with their children as early as 6 months of age, although you should always consult a paediatrician before jogging with children under 1 year old. Our jogging strollers can be used from birth for casual strolls with the purchase of a Thule Urban Glide Car Seat Adapter (Thule Urban Glide/Thule Glide).
What safety features are included on jogging strollers?
Safety is at the forefront of every Thule product design and Thule jogging strollers are no exception. Our lightweight jogging strollers are designed and built for speed, but there’s nothing lightweight about the comfort and safety features. Your child gets a smooth, comfortable ride thanks to the rear suspension and the canopy that protects them from the weather. Most importantly, every Thule stroller meets the most stringent safety standards with features such as a 5-point safety harness to ensure your child’s security.
To guarantee the safest ride possible, please abide by the following guidelines:
Never leave the child unattended
Put on the park brake whenever you park a child carrier
Do not carry extra children or bags on the child carrier
Be mindful of environmental hazards such as wind chill and heat exhaustion
Do not allow any of the children’s body, clothing, shoe laces, or toys to come into contact with moving parts.
How old should my child be to ride in a jogging stroller?
All Thule jogging strollers are made to be flexible and allow for growing kids to start using as early as 6 months of age and up to 4 years old with a maximum weight capacity of 49 lbs. / 22 kg per child. Each jogger includes an adjustable 5-point harness to comfortably accommodate your child through inevitable growth spurts.
Thule Urban Glide comes with a bassinet or infant inlay, however, you should not start running with your child until they are old enough to ride in the toddler seat. Always consult a paediatrician if you are concerned or unsure if your child is ready.
